Tutorial 4: Adding a Front Image
Key images are essential to make a key more user-friendly and to provide information that is not easily provided in text. A front image to the key will appear whenever the key is opened and enhances the key considerably for the user. Images can be attached to the key in bitmap, JPEG or GIF formats. The choice depends on the needs of the user. A HTML page can also be added as your front page. For this key, a bitmap file called frontim.jpg is supplied with the CD in the tutorial directory and can be used as a front image for the Banksia key. The image file has been set to a pixel size of 800 x 590 pixels, however any image manipulation software will allow you to process images for key use.
1. Start the Builder and open the Banksia key. Select Key from the main menu, followed by Front Page to open the Key Front Page Settings panel.
2. Select the button beside Image in the lower half of the Key Front Page Settings panel; the Image icon at the bottom of the panel will now have been activated.
3. Select the Image icon and a standard Windows file manager panel will open allowing you to search to find the required image file. Locate and select frontim.jpg. Once selected, it will appear as a thumbnail image at the lower right of the Key Front Page Settings panel. You can look at its full size by selecting the magnifying glass icon. After examining, select the green tick OK icons as necessary and return to the main screen.
4. Save the key and then compile the key, preferably by using the automatic opening of the Player so that the result of inserting the image can be seen: the new front image will be displayed as the Player waits for permission to start the key.

5. Select the button beside HTML in the lower half of the Key Front Page Settings panel, the HTML button beside the HTML text entry box will be highlighted. Select the HTML button and a Front Page HTML screen will appear. Select the Add link to HTML icon and browse the files for the file FrontImg.htm. Select the file and it will be added to your key as the front page. Select the green tick OK icons as necessary and return to the main screen. Save and compile the key.
