Lucid Builder - Step 4: Polishing the content and compiling the key

The content can be polished to give the key greater usability:

• characters can be assigned to sets (e.g. petal colour, stamen length and anther number to the set 'Flowers'), so that the person using the key can deal with just the characters they are interested in.
• characters that are dependent on other characters can be flagged so that if a character state is chosen that makes another character redundant (e.g. choosing 'Wings absent' makes 'Wing length' redundant), the redundant character (wing length) will disappear.

Creating the key assembles the data into the format that is used by the Player. When you choose "Compile Key", you are presented with a checklist, to ensure that you have completed all of the essential processes, and to show what other aspects may require attention. The Builder then creates the files.
